Booking & Check-In

Information about bookings, payments and check-in.

Q: What time is check-in and check-out?

Check In:   1400: (2pm)   12 (Noon) on Saturday Sunday and Public Holidays

(Closed Major Public Holidays)  Key Collection Instructions to be supplied

Please contact property direct 48 hours prior to arrival to confirm details of arrival.

Check Out:  Prior to 10am.

Q: Do you require a security bond upon check-in?

A pre-authorisation will be processed on the Credit Card as supplied – photo ID is also required.  Person checking in must be the name on the Booking Confirmation and both the Credit Card and Photo ID must be in the same name….  to guarantee payment of any incidental charge

Q: Is after hours check-in available?

If arriving outside of office hours (see below) please contact the office at least 24 hours prior to arriving as you will need the access code to the key safe. A small safe is on the wall beside Reception and the code will provide you access to an envelope which will contain your keys and instructions on how to get to your apartment.

Q: Can I have a late check-out?

Late check-out may be available on request. A small charge is applicable for departures after 10:00am.

We are able to hold on to your luggage pending your departure if a late checkout is not available.

Q: When do I have to pay a deposit?

A deposit of the 1st nights accommodation is payable upon booking with the balance of accommodation payable upon arrival

Q: What are the reception hours?

8am to 6pm Monday to Friday 

9am to 12 Noon Saturday Sunday and Public Holidays

Q: Is there a lift?

Our apartments are on Ground, First and Second Floor with stair access only. 1 Bedroom apartments are on either the 1st or 2nd Level. We do have a couple of 2 Bedroom apartments available on the ground floor… speak to us at reception to advise of your special requests/needs.

Q: Can I book local attractions & tours at reception?

A little bit of local knowledge always helps in making sure your tour will be within your budget and expectations. We are happy to make tour bookings with a discount for those who book 2 or more tours with us at Reception… Enjoy everything that Cairns has to offer… Gateway to the Reef and Rainforest.

Q: Is there Internet or WiFi access available?

WiFi Internet access is available with FREE daily limit of 50mg or 2 hours log on/off Additional Internet Packages are available from reception for a small charge.

Q: What facilities do you have?

Q: Is there car parking available?

Yes, FREE undercover secure and onsite Car Parking is offered at City Terraces… no need to pre-book however parking is for 1 vehicle only per apartment…. Height Restriction is 2mts.

Q: Is all linen provided & how often are the apartments serviced?

Guests on an extended stay over 8 nights have a mini clean and linen change during their stay.  Selected tariffs may include a Daily Service (excludes Sundays and Public Holidays)  If unsure please check with reception.  A towel change may also be included on some selected tariffs in the 1 bedroom apartments.

It is important to note that City Terraces is a Self Catering Apartment Complex…. Therefore our apartments are not serviced daily. Occupancy of 8 nights and longer will receive a mid-stay Freshen Up

Linen/Towelling is provided and includes a change on stays of 8 nights and longer.

Initial supplies of sundry items such as toilet paper, tea, coffee, milk, sugar, washing up detergent and dishwasher powder are also included. Should these supplies need replenishing during your stay, then these can be purchased for a small price from Reception or from the local supermarket.

Q: Is the swimming pool heated?

Our 25 metre pool is not heated however with our beautiful sunshine all year round we find that the water temperature is really great for swimming.   Alternatively we have the wonderful Lagoon on the Esplanade and a great children’s playground/water park at Muddies also located on the Esplanade and within easy walking distance.

Q: Are there shops or restaurants nearby?

Cairns Central Shopping Centre is within a 5 minute walk of City Terraces…… shopping centre includes Coles, Myers, Target, Kmart, Speciality Stores, Food Court and Cinemas.  The Esplanade is approximately a 10 minute walk for cafes, restaurants, the Lagoon, the Pier, The Casino, the Marina for all boat transfers and also some of the very restaurants are also located. 

Q: What is the best transport options from the Airport and do I need a car?

A number of options from Airport Transfer include….

TAXI… located just outside the arrival area of both International and Domestic Terminals ($25-$28)

AIRPORT SHUTTLE… a kiosk for Airport Shuttle is located in the arrivals/baggage area (cost $18pp)

RENTAL CAR… located at the northern end of Domestic Terminal- usually best to pre-book as cars may be limited. As many of the tours include Transfers and other tours being for a full day it may not be necessary to hire a car for your entire stay… please give us a call if you have any queries and we will be happy to assist.

Q: Is there public transport nearby?

2 local Council bus services are available….  Heading to the northern beaches (as far as Palm Cove) the bus shelter is located within a 10 minute walk of City Terraces.   Maybe a bus to the DFO or the Earlville Shopping Centre… the bus leaves from outside of the Cairns Central Shopping Centre which is approximately a 5 minute walk from our complex

Q: What local attractions are in the area?

Cairns is the Gateway to the Reef and the Rainforest…. The Marina for a variety of boats departing for the Reef daily…. The Skyrail and Kuranda Train are all available with courtesy pickups made available by a number of the different tour operators.  Kuranda Markets are on 7 days a week with wonderful attractions including the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary, Bird World and Koala Gardens (a photo of you with a Koala is a must) to  name a few of the wonderful attractions located in Kuranda.  Maybe a tour to the Atherton Tableland to include the Crater Lakes, the Cathedral Fig Tree, the Curtain Fig Tree, Waterfalls and then onto Paronella Park for one of the most wonderful days you could experience.   Maybe a trip to the World Heritage Listed Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation.  All this is available from Cairns and we here at City Terraces would love to be able to offer assistance with Tour Information and Bookings remembering that if you book 2 or more tours a discount will apply. 

Q: Where can I buy groceries locally?

Firstly we are fortunate to have located directly across the road on the corner a convenience store… a Friendly Grocer Open Daily till late (may be closed some Public Holidays)  Coles Supermarket in located in the Cairns Central Shopping Centre (open till 9pm daily) and this is approximately a 5 minute walk.  We also have a Reject Shop across the road on the corner as well.  We are situated next door to the McLeod Street Medical/Chemist Centre so this is also extremely convenient.  City Terraces is very conveniently located and within easy walking distance of most attractions of Cairns.
